With a studio located on Denman Island, B.C., Bev Severn's distinctive pottery and sculpture features:
Commissions welcomed.
I came to Canada from Britain in 1983 and in 1988 moved to Denman Island where I began to establish myself as a potter, selling my work in several stores and galleries in BC. I have a BA and teaching certification and teach pottery to adults and children. My studio is a short walk from the Denman Craft Shop Co-op where I'm a member. I use porcelain, stoneware and terracotta clays (fired at cone 6) for handbuilding and throwing, often adding detailed modelling. I often glaze using a surface treatment of painting with a variety of coloured glazes. My work reflects my involvement in earth-based spirituality, my love of nature and my fascination with inner imaginary worlds. Bev Severn |
